EU, Cuba agree to continue dialogue on human rights

(VOVWORLD) - Cuba and the EU held the 9th session on human rights dialogue in Brussels, Belgium, on Saturday, according to a statement by Cuba's Foreign Ministry.

The Cuban delegation was headed by Ambassador Rodolfo Reyes Rodríguez, Director General of Multilateral Affairs at the Cuban ministry, while the EU delegation was led by Eamon Gilmore, EU Special Representatives for Human Rights.

Both sides acknowledged differences in positions and approaches on several of the issues but reaffirm their willingness to hold dialogue, based on full respect for each other’s sovereign equality, independence, legality, and non-interference in the internal affairs.

The Cuban delegation expressed its concerns about human rights situations in member states of the EU, such as supremacist ideas, hate speech, intolerance and xenophobia, in particular against migrants.
