Before the meeting, Czech Defence Minister Jana Cernochova said the most important topic of the conference was the conflict in Ukraine, and EU support for the Ukrainian government. The EU defense ministers also discussed the situation in Africa and other regions.

Meanwhile, the EU's High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josef Borrell said that the situation in Ukraine has not improved and the EU will continue to provide support.
