(VOVworld) - The European Union announced Tuesday that it will increase financial support to the Central African Republic (CAR), focusing on humanitarian needs, recovery, and resilience-building. According to an official statement of an on-going international conference in Brussels, hosted by EU High Representative and Vice-President Federica Mogherini, the European Commission will increase its assistance for the CAR to a total of 72 million euros. That includes 10 million in humanitarian aid, 40 million in budget support, and 22 million in terms contributions to the EU Trust Fund for the CAR. Mogherini said after years of conflict, the people of the Central African Republic deserve a present and a future of peace, adding that, since the beginning of this crisis, the EU has been by their side, helping to bring recovery, stability, and development to the country.
