The EU is not willing to push Moscow further, due to concerns about risks in bilateral co-operative ties.

(VOVworld) – The EU is not ready to impose further sanctions against Russia because of worries about risks in co-operative ties with Moscow, said an article in the British newspaper The Independent on Tuesday, while EU Foreign Ministers gathered in Brussels to discuss the situation in Ukraine, including investigations into the Malaysian airliner’s crash and new sanctions on Russia. The article said that the efforts made by the UK and the US to persuade EU leaders to impose new sanctions had failed, as France and Germany did not support them. The UK’s proposal is to expand restrictions on Russia’s businesses, especially in the areas of defense, finance, and energy, but Berlin believed that the sanctions would not work.
