At a meeting with Mr. Bernd Lange, Chairman of the European Parliament’s International Trade Committee, Mr. Hue urged the Committee to persuade remaining EU members to ratify the trade deal. He said the Vietnamese NA and relevant agencies are ready to cooperate on this effort. He asked the EU to continue to play its role in ensuring peace, stability, security and safety of navigation and aviation in the East Sea, deepen relations between Vietnam and EU member countries at multilateral forums, and support Vietnam’s candidacy for the UN Human Rights Council in the 2023-2025 tenure.
The Chairman of the International Trade Committee of the European Parliament said that the EVFTA is a firm foundation for both sides to strengthen ties and move forward in the future. Mr. Bernd Lange attributed the delay in ratifying the EVFTA to the COVID-19 pandemic. He said EU member countries are accelerating their procedures. The official said he himself and the EU always support Vietnam in regards to security and freedom of navigation and aviation on rule-based principles. The EU is ready to support Vietnam at international organizations.
