EU rejects Belarus election

(VOVWORLD) - EU leaders said on Wednesday that they will not recognize the results of the recent Belarus presidential election and will impose sanctions on those who were involved in election fraud and the repression of protests.

The announcement followed an online meeting of leaders of 27 EU members on the post-election crisis in Belarus. The EU said it will allocate 63 million USD to help the people of Belarus through this difficult time. It urged charitable organizations to send aid, not to the Belarusian government, but directly to the people in need.
