European countries tighten security after Brussels attacks
(VOVworld)- On Tuesday, acting Spanish Minister of Home AffairsJorge Fernandez Diaz said Spain will continue maintaining the security alert at level 4 following a series of deadly attacks in Brussels.
He said Spain is threatened by terrorists. Mr. Diaz said March 22 is a dark day in Europe. The same day, the Czech Republic raised the terror alarming level from 0 to 1 showing the potentiality of terrorism. Czech Minister of Home Affairs Milan Chovanec said Prague has strengthened controls of borders with Schengen member countries. France decided to close the Toulous Blagnac airport and evacuated passengers and airport staff and deployed anti-terror police in the airport. French Prime Minister Manuel Valls emphasized the importance of tightening control in border areas in the EU and strengthened the inspection of the use of fake passports.
In a recent development, on Wednesday, the Belgian police identified the Brussels airport suicide bombers as brothers Khalid and Ibrahim El-Bakraoui. The Bakraoui brothers were caught on CCTV strolling into Brussels airport before unleashing murder and mayhem. Police are hunting a third man, named by local media as Najim Laachraoui, 24, who was spotted alongside the brothers before 14 people were killed.
