In 2021, when the COVID-19 pandemic was raging, nearly 1.4 million blood units were donated, 99% them are from volunteer blood donors, about 1.5% of the population. Nguyen Thi Minh Hieu from Ho Chi Minh City, who donated blood 38 times, said: “My blood type can be used for people of all the other blood types. So even though I'm busy, I'm still willing and happy to do something good for patients and the community.”
