Farmers urged to further contribute to national development

(VOVWORLD) -A ceremony to mark the 90th anniversary of the Vietnamese Farmers’ Association was held in Hanoi on Sunday.

In his address, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc said farmers, agriculture, and rural areas have been the support pillar of the national economy as well as of the Party and the people. He expressed his belief that by promoting self- reliance and creativity, Vietnamese farmers will further contribute to the national development. 

He said that in the last four years the government and the Vietnamese farmers’ association and many other organizations have held dialogues with farmers nationwide in policymaking to boost the rural economy. Despite COVID-19, in 2020, Vietnam’s agricultural export is estimated to reach US$41 billion, much higher than 2019. In the last 10 years Vietnam has obtained positive achievements in new rural development.
