Film by Vietnamese female director screened at Busan Film Festival

(VOVworld) – Programmer Kim Young-woo of the 21st Busan International Film Festival (BIFF) has said that Asian female directors are defining themselves and gaining favour with viewers, adding that the trend is clear at this year’s festival.

Vietnamese director Ngo Thanh Van brought her most recent film “Tam Cam: The Untold Story” to the festival which concluded last Saturday.

Other Asian female directors presented at the event include Hitomi Kuroki from Japan with her directorial debut “Desperate Sunflowers” and Konkona Sen Sharma from India also with her first movie released - “A Death in the Gunj”.

The Busan festival screens 301 films from 69 countries. The BIFF’s Korean Cinema Today Vision category also introduced films from established independent filmmakers.
