This is the first time a contest on energy saving has been held on an online platform, open to anyone regardless of geographical location and age. The contest promotes knowledge of the Law on Energy Conservation.
Trinh Quoc Vu, Deputy Chief of the Steering Committee for Energy Saving and Deputy Director of the Department of Energy Saving and Sustainable Development, said in the next 5 years, electricity demand will grow about 8.5% per year.
"Energy saving is one of the most effective ways to reduce pressure on the exploitation, processing, and delivery of all forms of energy, to boost the economy, to ensure national electricity supply security, to protect the environment, to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and to honor Vietnam’s Paris Agreement commitment to respond to climate change and its COP26 Climate Change Summit commitment to reduce greenhouse gas emissions to zero by 2050,” said Mr. Vu.
Statistics from EVN show that between 2010 and 2021, Vietnam saved 37.1 billion kWh of electricity, worth 2.8 billion USD.
