(VOVworld)- The Vietnam Buddhist Shangha’s Thua Thien Hue branch and the 2016 Hue Festival organizers held the first Quang Chieu Zen ceremony in Hue city on Sunday night.
During the event, local Buddhist dignitaries and followers prayed for peace, mild weather, and the people’s happiness and prosperity. Superior Buddhist monk Thich Hai An said: “Quang Chieu Zen festival means Buddha’s shinning sunlight. There are 3 kinds of lanterns: sky, earth and river lanterns, symbolizing Buddha’s wisdom given to the society and all people for more secured and happy lives”.
Quang Chieu Zen ceremony dates back to the Ly dynasty (1009-1225) and is closely associated with Buddhism. The ceremony often takes place in September annually.
