Flag raising ceremony marks ASEAN’s 50th anniversary
(VOVWORLD) - The founding of the ASEAN Community in 2015 was an historic milestone in the connectivity process of ASEAN, Deputy Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son said at a flag hoisting ceremony on Tuesday in Hanoi, on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of ASEAN.

Mr. Son said ASEAN has been important to regional peace, stability and cooperation and continues to enhance its relations with world powers.
"ASEAN cooperation is one of the top priorities of Vietnam’s foreign diplomacy. Since it became an ASEAN member in 1995, Vietnam has been involved in drafting major orientations for ASEAN’s development. Vietnam has also authored many initiatives for maintaining security and a stable environment for cooperation," Son elaborated.
He said the ASEAN Community Vision 2025 affirms the bloc’s determination to deepen its connectivity and ensure its citizens’ rights and benefits.
