Focusing resources for the sustainable development of the Central Highlands
(VOVworld) – Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has called for all resources inside and outside the country to develop the Central Highlands as one of the locomotives of the nation. At the second conference on Investment Promotion in the Central Highlands in Gia Lai province on Friday, he said it’s crucial to achieve this to build a modern infrastructure and effectively implement planning in order to promote the potential and advantages of the region.

Dung asked the Ministry of Planning and Investment to speedily introduce the necessary mechanisms and incentive policies for socio-economic development, ensuring social security and national defense in the Central Highlands until 2020. The Prime Minister said the Government would continue to review and adjust incentive policies so as to help attract regional investment for steady and sustainable development. Dung said: "We have to generate competitive advantages and products. The enterprises, State, and Government have to work together in this process. The Central Highlands should develop and propose specific mechanisms which will create competitive products for the region’s sustainable development."
At the conference, representatives of the banking sector signed agreements to finance 1.2 billion USD for projects involving coffee and rubber production, and the construction of hydro-power plants.
