(VOVWORLD) - Foreign leaders have sent their congratulations to State President To Lam on his election as General Secretary of the 13th Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV).

First Secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba Central Committee and President of Cuba Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez wrote on his personal web page on Saturday that he offers sincere and warmest congratulations to Mr. To Lam.
“We affirm our firm will in continuing to deepen the close relationship between the two Parties and our people,” he said.
In his message, Cambodian King Norodom Sihamoni expressed his firm belief that under Mr. Lam's leadership, Vietnam will reap more achievements, enjoy rapid development across the board, and maintain its important role in the region and the world.
He said he is confident that relations between the people of Vietnam and Cambodia will continue to grow.
Meanwhile, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that the election of Mr. To Lam affirms his high political prestige and a testament to his contributions to Vietnam’s socio-economic development and growing position in the international arena.
Mr. Putin highly valued Mr. Lam’s efforts in consolidating the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries and said he hopes that there will be more dialogues and coordination to meet the core interests of the people of Russia and Vietnam, contributing to security and stability in the Asia-Pacific region.
The same day, the Communist Party of the Russian Federation (KPRF)'s website carried its leader Gennady Ziuganov's congratulations to the Vietnamese Party chief.
In the message, Mr. Ziuganov stressed that Mr. Lam’s election is the outcome of his many-year efforts for the interests of the nation and people. He said he believes that under the leadership of Party leader and President Lam, the CPV, which has been infinite loyal to President Ho Chi Minh’s teaching, will carve out more achievements in the Doi Moi (renewal) process, and well implement the resolution adopted at the CPV’s 13th national congress.
Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro, in a message posted on the social network X, expressed his belief that Party General Secretary and President To Lam will continue the legacy of the late General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, standing firm in the face of great challenges in the future, for the happiness of the Vietnamese people.
The Government of Nicaragua congratulated Mr. To Lam and affirmed its readiness to strengthen relations with Vietnam to move towards building a better, peaceful and friendly world.
A statement with signatures of Nicaraguan President Daniel Ortega and Vice President Rosario Murillo stated that the Sandinista National Liberation Front, the vanguard of the Sandinista People’s Revolution, is bound in ideal and values to Vietnamese communists and to Party leader and President To Lam.
In his message of congratulations, General Secretary of the Workers' Party of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) Kim Jong Un wished the CPV and the Vietnamese people, under Mr. Lam’s leadership, will reap greater achievements in socialism building.
Japanese Prime Minister Kishida Fumio highlighted the close ties between Vietnam and Japan across the board and said his believes that Party leader and President Lam, a great, important friend of Japan, will help deepen bilateral relations.
Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko expressed his belief that with his experience, reputation and qualities, Mr. Lam will outstandingly fulfill all tasks. Belarus wants to promote its ties with Vietnam on the basis of their traditional friendship and mutual trust and understanding, he said.
National Secretary of the French Communist Party Fabien Roussel said he believes that under General Secretary and President Lam’s leadership, Vietnam will continue its socio-economic development path, and efforts for peace and stability in the region and the world.
The Mexican Communist Party Central Committee also extended congratulations to Party General Secretary and President Lam, and hoped for stronger relations between the two parties.
