Foreign leaders congratulate President Nguyen Phu Trong
(VOVWORLD) - Leaders of China, Laos, Cuba, Russia, and India have cabled congratulatory messages to General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Nguyen Phu Trong on his election as President of Vietnam.

General Secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and President of China Xi Jinping said in his message that China is committed to developing relations with Vietnam and he is ready to work with Party General Secretary and President Trong in pushing their comprehensive strategic partnership to new heights.
General Secretary of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party and President of Laos Bounnhang Vorachith also sent a message of congratulations to Mr. Trong. He said he is confident that under Mr. Trong’s leadership, Vietnam will continue to obtain significant achievements and the Vietnam-Laos friendship, special solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation will be further enhanced.
In their congratulatory messages, First Secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba Central Committee Raul Castro Ruz and President of the Council of State and Council of Ministers of Cuba Miguel Mario Diaz-Canel Bermudez affirmed their determination to strengthen friendship and cooperation with Vietnam.
Russian President Vladimir Putin’s message of congratulation said the National Assembly’s vote reflected Mr. Trong’s sterling reputation during his years of government service and acknowledged his contributions to Vietnam’s economic development and external diplomacy.
India’s President Ram Nath Kovind said he believes Mr. Trong’s visit to India this November will further consolidate political trust and their comprehensive strategic partnership.
