Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh’s bilateral talks on the sidelines of AMM46

(VOVworld) – Vietnamese Minister of Foreign Affairs, Pham Binh Minh, held bilateral meetings on the sidelines of the ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Meeting, AMM 46.

In a meeting with his Singaporean counterpart K.Shanmugam, the two ministers agreed that the fine political, economic, trade, and investment ties were the highlights of the two countries’ relations.

In a meeting with Malaysian Foreign Minsiter, Anifah Aman, Mr. Minh affirmed that Vietnam always treasures and hopes to strengthen its multi-faceted cooperation with Malaysia to generate favorable conditions for overseas Vietnamese workers.

Foreign Ministers from Vietnam and Timor Leste expressed their hopes of improving cooperation in the areas of oil and gas, agriculture, tourism, information technology, and telecommunication.

Mr. Minh and his Bangladeshi counterpart Dipu Moni said the two countries should increase high-level visits to seek effective measures to tap each other’s potential.

Minister Minh and his Mongolian counterpart Luvsanvandan Bold agreed to work closely to carry out practical events to mark the 60th anniversary of diplomatic ties in order to boost cooperation for the mutual benefit of their people.

In a meeting with the Australian Foreign Minister Bob Carr, the two ministers said it’s important to exchange visits to enhance mutual trust and understanding as the basis for raising bilateral relations to a new level. The two counties will enhance their cooperative efforts in Australia’s major fields such as science, technology and education.

Mr. Minh and Catherine Ashton, EU foreign policy chief, expressed their delight at positive developments in the Vietnam – EU relations, particularly since the signing of the Partnership and Cooperation Agreement in Belgium last year. Minister Minh suggested the EU and its member countries should quickly approve the Agreement’s validity.
