Addressing a conference to review the Ministry’s performance in 2020 and set out tasks and orientations for 2021, Mr. Minh, who is also Foreign Minister announced this year’s theme for the Ministry: “Building a comprehensive and modern diplomacy and successfully implementing the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress”.

He asked the diplomatic sector to focus on effectively implementing the foreign policy of the upcoming 13th National Party Congress; continue developing Vietnam’s relations with neighboring countries and important partners; and conducting diplomatic, economic, and cultural affairs and overseas Vietnamese-related work.

The Ministry will step up implementation of the directions of the Party Central Committee’s Secretariat on boosting and heightening multilateral diplomacy until 2030, and cope with traditional and non-traditional security challenges, Mr. Minh said. The diplomatic sector will also pay attention to citizen protection and overseas Vietnamese-related work and coordination among the Party, State, people and external affairs, he said.
