The delegates said that developing medicinal herbs into an economic sector is a direction that many ministries and localities are interested in. Besides therapeutic value, medicinal herbs are also used to produce nutritional foods, beverages, and cosmetics.
Le Quoc Thanh, Director of the National Center for Agricultural Extension, said that many mountainous provinces have restructured crops by growing medicinal herbs with high economic value.
“If we only exploit medicinal herbs as a type of product, we have not fully tapped its value. Medicinal plants are often associated with geographical indications, special ecological regions, culture, traditions, and the development of a certain community. We propose a multi-valued perspective and medicinal plant associated with tourism development,” said Mr. Thanh.
