(VOVworld) – On Monday, France’s Le Monde newspaper reported on the ongoing visit to France by Cuban President Raul Castro.

It says France hopes to take advantage of the agreement on December 12, 2015, in which the Paris Club of creditor nations wrote off debts for Havana worth 8.5 billion USD in back interest in exchange for payment within 18 months of 2.6 billion USD in loan arrears. In December, creditors decided to write off interest for Cuba’s loans, France and Cuba carried out bilateral negotiations on major loans of 390 million USD to reinvest the money in Cuba’s development projects. This is likely to be specified with an agreement during the Cuban President’s visit.
