Under a plan called “Vigipirate”, 300 soldiers will be deployed around France to assure security. Mr Valls said the extra soldiers will patrol zones such as Paris's Champs-Elysees avenue and main shopping districts. The latest incident happened Tuesday at a Christmas market in the western city of Nantes. One person was killed and 10 were wounded. Mr. Valls said the three incidents were “distinct”, and urged the public to stay calm, stressing that security will be heightened. France has been on high alert since calls earlier this year from militants for attacks on French citizens and interests in reprisal for French military strikes on Islamist strongholds in the Middle East and Africa.
