France's President Macron announces bid for re-election
(VOVWORLD) - French President Emmanuel Macron confirmed just ahead of the deadline that he plans to run for re-election next month.

Mr. Macron announced his candidacy in a letter published by several regional newspapers on Thursday. In the letter, he said geopolitical crises in the world, Europe, and France – terrorism, the COVID-19 pandemic, and the conflict in Ukraine – have forced him repeatedly to postpone announcing his candidacy.
Macron said that despite the many challenges, he is committed to creating an effective French and European response to deal with every challenge.
