The delegation, led by former Health Minister Tran Thi Chung Chien, included 100 doctors and nurses from Ho Chi Minh City and Chak Angre Phnom Penh Hospital. While staying there on Wednesday and Thursday, they examined and treated thousands of local people. They also performed free surgery for a number of patients suffering from cardiovascular and bone-related diseases. Le Ba Hung, Director of the Chak Angre Phnom Penh hospital, said: We are Vietnamese doctors living in Cambodia and we consider this country our second homeland. On behalf of all patients here, we would like to extend our sincere thanks to Vietnamese volunteer doctors. In addition to helping the poor, their charity activities will strengthen Vietnam-Cambodia friendship and solidarity.
On the occasion, all poor patients were offered packages of relief aid, including rice, shrimp noodles and other staples.
