Addressing a conference on Friday, SPD’s Acting Chairman Olaf Scholz and Head of the SPD parliamentary group Andrea Nahles said the list of appointments includes a finance minister, a foreign minister, a labor minister, a justice minister, and an environment minister. Nahles said Olaf Sholz, 59, a lawyer who backs closer European integration, will also be vice chancellor in the government. Earlier, the Christian Democratic Union (CDU) and the Christian Social Union (CSU) had announced the ministers in their new government.
The SPD on Sunday said two-thirds of its members had voted in favor of the grand coalition with the CDU/CSU coalition. After parliamentary approval, the new government will be sworn in on Wednesday.
