(VOVworld) – Visiting Ukraine Prime Minister Arseni Yaseniuk met with German Chancellor Angela Merkel in Berlin on Thursday to call for more support for reconciliation in east Ukraine.

Merkel said Germany will quickly disburse its 500 million euro credit package to help Ukraine rebuild its eastern areas.

Merkel praised the Ukrainian government’s economic and trade reform efforts. She underlined the need for all parties involved to abide by the Minsk protocol to pave the way for a peace negotiation.

Yaseniuk said the West, including Germany, should be united and provide more support for Ukraine because the crisis in Ukraine greatly affects all of Europe.
