(VOVworld) - The Central Highlands province of Gia Lai held a ceremony on Tuesday to celebrate the 40th anniversary of its liberation. The event drew the participation of local leaders and residents and representatives from several Cambodian localities.

Pham The Dung, Chairman of the Gia Lai provincial People’s Committee, applauded the wise grasp of opportunity for an offensive in March, 1975, to totally liberate Gia Lai province. Dung added:“As a heroic, patriotic, and creative province, Gia Lai will always follow the guidelines of the Party and President Ho Chi Minh. We promise to be united and take a firm political stance to overcome all difficulties and make Gia Lai a more prosperous province.”
Gia Lai province’s economy has grown 40 fold since the liberation 40 years ago.
