Speaking at the ceremony, President Truong Tan Sang called the ceremony an acknowledgement of Khang’s great contributions to the struggle for national independence and freedom. Sang said: “Quang Nam province is rich with patriotic tradition and home to many revolutionaries who devoted their lives to the struggle for Vietnam’s independence and freedom, and the people’s happiness. Huynh Thuc Khang was one of the icons of the early 20th-century patriotic movement, along with Phan Boi Chau and Phan Chau Trinh. Khang’s life was a shining example of the traditional Vietnamese fondness for learning and a simple lifestyle”.
