(VOVWORLD) - On behalf of Party and State leaders, President To Lam on Thursday presented the Gold Star Order, the highest honor of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, to Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong. According to scholars and intellectuals, the distinction recognizes Mr. Trong’s exceptional achievements in his various positions and his contributions to the country’s revolutionary cause.

Mr. Nguyen Trong Phuc, former Director of the Party History Institute at the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics, emphasized that throughout his career, Party leader Trong made outstanding contributions that have been highly regarded by the entire Party, people, and many international friends.
"The Gold Star Order has been in place since the establishment of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam. It is awarded to individuals with brilliant achievements in the revolutionary cause of the Party, State, and nation," said Mr. Phuc.
Highlighting the people’s trust in General Secretary Trong, Mrs. Bui Thi An, Chairwoman of the Hanoi Female Intellectuals Association and Head of the Female Scientists Club of the Hanoi Labor Federation, said, "The Gold Star Order presents the entire Party, people, and army’s tribute to General Secretary Trong."
Former Deputy Head of the Party Central Committee’s Communication and Education Commission Dao Duy Quat said that General Secretary Trong has made enormous contributions, both in practice and theory, to national development, especially during the period of promoting industrialization, modernization, international integration, and implementation of the national defense strategy in the new situation.
