The defense ministry said on Friday it had changed the location originally from a site planned nearby Seongju village due to strong protests from the villagers and notified the decision to the governor of Seongju County. Seoul decided to deploy the powerful US antimissile system despite strong opposition from Beijing and Moscow amid escalating provocations from Pyongyang including fresh nuclear tests and a long-range missile launch this year. The announcement on the revised location comes 79 days after the Seoul government originally decided to install the anti-missile system in Seongju.
