(VOVWORLD) -Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam has just signed a decision approving the program to ensure supply of vaccines until 2030. The program aims to meet the demand for vaccines against infectious diseases under the compulsory Expanded Immunization Program and ensure vaccines used for immunization service and vaccines used in disease prevention and control.
By 2025, Vietnam will master the technology of producing 10 types of vaccines; produce at least three vaccines, including a 5-in-1 vaccine to protect against diphtheria, whooping cough (pertussis), tetanus, hepatitis B and Hib disease (Haemophilus influenzae). By 2030, Vietnam will master the technology of producing 15 types of vaccines; produce at least 5 types of vaccines; and domestically produced vaccines must meet standards equivalent to international standards.
The program calls for investment and support from international organizations and developed countries in training human resources to carry out research, mastering technology to produce vaccines against emerging, dangerous, highly infectious diseases; new vaccines not yet available in Vietnam; combination vaccines and vaccines against diseases not included in the Expanded Immunization Program.
