Government chief highlights Vietnam's success in COVID-19 fight
(VOVWORLD) - Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has attributed Vietnam’s success in containing the novel coronavirus to full and early awareness of the danger posed by the epidemic, effective preventive measures, a clear direction, and great public support.
In a recent interview granted to foreign media agencies, PM Phuc emphasized Vietnam’s view of "fighting an epidemic as if fighting an enemy”. This attitude has meant that Vietnam has remained vigilant, been swift to mobilize its resources, and has actively involved the entire political system and community.
To counter the economic damage caused by the epidemic, the Government has initiated measures to prop up the economy, solve production and business problems, and create bailout packages to support workers and ensure social security. Thanks to these measures, Vietnam has effectively sustained the macro economy, adapted to the "new normal", and stayed on track for GDP growth of 4.5 to 5% in 2020, said Mr. Phuc.
Vietnam’s international cooperation has included donating medical masks and supplies, and sharing its experience in epidemic prevention, earning international plaudits, he said.
