President Thuong said the Vietnam-Indonesia friendship is built on a solid foundation of closeness in history, culture and the spirit of self-reliance of the two peoples and the close bonding between two great leaders - President Ho Chi Minh and President Sukarno.

He affirmed that with political and strategic trust that has been stood the test of time, Vietnam and Indonesia are determined to advance their Strategic Partnership to a new level in a suitable time.

President Vo Van Thuong stressed the two countries' global contribution, saying “As two countries taking on important geostrategic roles and positions in the region, close cooperation between Vietnam and Indonesia will positively contribute to the strong development of the ASEAN Community, peace and stability, cooperation and development in the region and the world.”

The Indonesian President said Vietnam and Indonesia have built friendship and mutual respect, with multifaceted cooperation constantly developing. He expected that the two countries will continue boosting cooperation together for development and prosperity of the two peoples.
