The rehearsal program included flag raising ceremony; festival drum performance; art performance; decision announced to receive medals and commendations; military parade, and demonstration. The focus was the military parade and civil procession, which involved more than 12,000 people.

Speaking at the lesson-drawing session after the rehearsal, Nguyen Trong Nghia, Secretary of the Party Central Committee and Head of the Party Central Committee's Commission for Communication and Education, applauded the results and urged for continued efforts to ensure security and order and create favorable conditions for people and international friends to join the celebration.

He said the 70th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu Victory is a momentous event, aiming to arouse and promote patriotic traditions, revolutionary heroism, and the will to fight and the determination to win in national construction and defense. The event also honors and deeply expresses gratitude to generations of Vietnamese people who have sacrificed their lives and made great contributions to the struggle for national liberation and reunification.
