(VOVworld) – Typhoon Hagupit is sweeping through the Philippines and has already claimed the lives of two people, according to the Philippines National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC).

The victims are a young girl and an elderly person in the central province of Iloilo. The storm has so far disrupted the lives of more than 195,000 families and caused the closure of five airports and the cancellation of 183 flights. Key telecommunication systems in some areas of the islands of Leyte and East Samar have been damaged and there are power outages in other areas.
