(VOVWORLD) -Hamas on Wednesday announced that its leaders Ismail Haniyeh was killed in the Iranian capital Tehran.

Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) also confirmed that Ismail Haniyeh and one of his bodyguards were killed when his residence in Tehran was attacked.
Currently, no individual or organization takes responsibility for the incident.
IRGC said the attack occurred in the early Wednesday morning and it is investigating the cause.
On Tuesday, Mr. Haniyeh attended the inauguration ceremony of the new Iranian president and met with the supreme leader of Iran.
