The exhibition tells the stories of the Vietnamese people’s heroic struggle for national independence from 1954 to 1975. It also expresses gratitude to foreign friends who, regardless of their nationality and background, fought for peace in the country and joined hands in healing the wounds of war. Through the exhibits, organisers wish to convey the message that it’s never too late for peace and that Vietnam is a destination for cooperation, friendship and peace.

“After many years the former adversaries of Vietnam and the US have now become comprehensive partners. From the end of the war in 1975 to the normalization of bilateral ties in 1995, social and cultural activists, war veterans, and intellectuals of the two countries held several meetings and exchanges to convey  messages of reconciliation and peace," said former Vietnamese Ambassador to the US and Head of the Vietnam-US Society Nguyen Tam Chien.

"Putting aside the past and looking toward the future, the meetings between former Vietnamese and American pilots helped improve bilateral ties. The exhibition is further evidence of Vietnamese people’s aspiration for peace.”

At the opening ceremony, many people presented the Hoa Lo prison relic site’s management board with photos, documents and items for research and display.
