(VOVworld) – On Thursday, the 2016 Book Festival under the theme “Book – Integration, Reform, and Development” was held by the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism to celebrate Vietnam Book Day and World Book and Copyright Day at the Vietnam National Library.

Duong Trung Quoc, Secretary General of Viet Nam's Association of Historians, said:
Reading is our tradition. We have many media, including modern ones, but we should not forget the tradition. It is part of our daily lives and we improve ourselves by it. Encouraging people to read does not mean we abandon or discourage modern media, but book reading helps us find peace in our busy lives.
The festival included the 11th Vietnam Book Award Ceremony, a book exhibit, a story-telling competition for children, and a book fair. There will be a book donation for 18 public libraries in remote areas.
