Jointly sponsored by the Embassy of Iran in Vietnam and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the festival will run from April 11 to 15 screening films that explore themes of love, family, and personal struggle and offer a glimpse into Iranian culture and society.

Iranian Ambassador Ali Akbar Nazari said he believes the film week will serve as a cultural bridge showcasing the rich tradition of Iranian cinema to Vietnamese audiences.

“The event provides an opportunity to experience the unique storytelling style of Iranian filmmakers, who often delve into deep cultural and social issues. The highlight of the festival will be the screening of award-winning Iranian films which have been recognized for their artistic excellence,” said Ambassador Nazari.

The film week will start with “In the Arms of the Tree”, directed by Babak Khajehpasha, which tells the story of Kimia and Farid, married for 12 years, whose complex crisis disrupts the beautiful world of their children, who have known nothing but simplicity and kindness in their life.

The film was selected as Iran's nominee for Best International Feature Film at the 97th Academy Awards. It also won a Crystal Simorgh for Best First Film, and Best Screenplay at the 41st Fair International Film Festival in Tehran.

The second film is a work by director Hadi Moghadamdoost titled “Fragrant”, about a struggling and hesitant individual confronting the complexities of his existence and the weight of his responsibilities.

Burdened by inner turmoil and uncertainty, he grapples with the demands and expectations placed upon him, navigating the difficult path between personal desires and the obligations that life imposes. His internal conflict leads him to question his choices, his purpose, his very identity.

Directed by Ahmad Alamdar, “A Passenger from Ganora” tells the story of an alien who arrives on Earth and, with the help of a disabled boy and his friends, embarks on a quest to find the ruler of the planet Ganora, lost somewhere on Earth, in order to restore peace to their homeland.

“Beyro” by director Morteza Ali Abbasmirzaee follows the life of Alireza Biranvand, from his childhood to entering professional football and becoming the goalkeeper of Iran's national football team.

The last film is “Goodbye Shirazi Girl” by director Afshin Hashemi. Based on Neil Simon's “The Goodbye Girl”, it's a romantic story in which a man named Nasim, who is from Abadan, and Shabnam, a widow who lives with her daughter, end up renting the same house. They put up with each other with difficulty until they finally find a solution.

The film week is open free to the public at the National Cinema Center, 87 Lang Ha Street, Hanoi, from April 11 to 15. Screenings will begin at 7:30 p.m. and all films will be subtitled in English and Vietnamese.
