HCM City to host first Vietnamese “banh mi” festival
(VOVWORLD) -Ho Chi Minh City will host the first Vietnamese “banh mi” festival later this month to celebrate bread in Vietnamese cuisine and honor the skill and creativity of bakers.

The event will feature 120 pavilions of domestic and foreign restaurants, hotels, bread shops, suppliers, and other businesses and is expected to attract 50,000 visitors. It will include a workshop on Vietnamese bread, demonstrations of bread making, and a donation of bread carts to disadvantaged women.
Nguyen Thi Khanh, Chairwoman of the Ho Chi Minh City Tourism Association and head of the festival’s organizing board, said: “The festival aims to promote the city’s tourism sector and will be held annually to attract more tourists.”
“Banh mi” is a popular Vietnamese variety of sandwich that shares the same core ingredient - a baguette. "Banh mi" is ranked 7th among the best street foods in the world by TasteAtlas, a website dedicated to discovering fresh ingredients, traditional dishes, and authentic restaurants around the world. It was also named among the 50 best street foods in Asia by CNN.
