(VNA) - More than 1,000 delegates representing over 8,700 Buddhist monks and nuns attended their Buddhist Sangha’s congress yesterday in Ho Chi Minh City to discuss tasks for the eighth term from now until 2017.

At the congress, Sangha’s new executive board was elected. At a reception for the Sangha’s new executive board, Le Thanh Hai, Secretary of the Municipal Party’s Committee called for the local Buddhist Sangha, monks, and nuns to continue boosting Buddhism in the city, social and charitable activities, and caring for disadvantaged people.
