(VOVWORLD) - Localities are raising their guard given COVID-19 surge in the region and the world, particularly during Vietnam’s upcoming national holidays and preparation for the elections of the National Assembly and People’s Councils on May 23.

At a working session with HCM City’s leaders Wednesday, Deputy Prime Minister Truong Hoa Binh asked the city to increase vigilance against COVID-19, improve its quarantine capacity, and be ready to help other localities, including southwestern border provinces.
Ho Chi Minh City is strengthening pandemic prevention activities, especially at hospitals, schools, supermarkets, and places of worship. Those who fail to abide by regulations as well as those facilitating illegal entry into Vietnam and illegal entrants will be strictly punished.
