(VOVworld)-The fifth hi-tech agriculture and food industry fair opened in HCM City on Thursday, providing opportunities for local farm producers and distributors to enhance cooperation.

Entitled “Hi-Tech Agro 2016”, the fair features 300 booths, displaying hi-tech farming models, bio-technology products, ornamental trees, farm produce, and agricultural machines and equipment.

Pham Thiet Hoa, Director of the Investment and Trade Promotion Centre of HCM City (ITPC), said: “High-tech agriculture is a quite new concept and is what we should aspire to. In large cities with little available land, we should apply advanced technologies to increase the product values.”

A special zone designed like an aquarium displaying ornamental fish is the highlight of the fair.

Pham Phuong Phong, Director of Hung Phong Tree Company, said: “Through the fair, we hope to make consumers more aware of farmers’ efforts to develop domestic agriculture. We want to be a bridge linking consumers and producers.”

The fair will run through next Monday.
