(VOVworld) - An exhibit of historical evidence proving Vietnam’s sovereignty over the Hoang Sa (Paracel) and Truong Sa (Spratly) archipelagoes opened in Cat Hai island district, Hai Phong on Tuesday.

On display are numerous documents and 100 maps in Chinese, Chinese-transcribed Vietnamese, French, and modern Vietnamese issued by Vietnamese feudal states, French authorities in Indochina, the Saigon administration, and the Socialist Republic of Vietnam. The exhibits affirm Vietnam’s sovereignty over these islands and reflect Vietnam’s long history of administrative management and protection of its sovereignty over the archipelagoes. The exhibit, which runs until April 1, aims to raise public awareness and encourage Vietnamese to protect national sovereignty.
