The 19 visitors were offered free tickets to all local attractions. Nguyen Thi Lieu, a souvenir shop owner in Hoi An said she hopes Hoi An tourism will bounce back this year.
“I had to shut down my business for a year due to COVID-19. Today I reopen my shop and hope that the pandemic will be over soon so we can have more visitors this year. Otherwise, it will be really hard for us to make ends meet,” said Lieu.
Hoi An welcomes more than 5 million foreign and domestic tourists annually. But the number of arrivals dropped sharply last year due to COVID-19, forcing many businesses to close.
