They committed a possible joint document on the implementation of the Minsk agreement reached last September. Leaders announced that Putin and Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko will discuss a proposal in four-party talks Sunday.
Hollande underlined that France-Germany peace initiative was a last-ditch effort to put a stop to fighting in Ukraine. Meanwhile, Merkel said there was no guarantee the initiative would work but it was worth trying due to current bloody violence in Ukraine.
