Hong Kong administration opposes US withdrawal of special status
(VOVWORLD) - Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (China) issued a statement on Saturday, saying the US’s imposition of sanctions and trade restrictions on Hong Kong related to Hong Kong security law that the Chinese parliament has passed is wrong, according to Xinhua News Agency.
In the statement, a Hong Kong administration spokesperson said US sanctions and trade restrictions on Hong Kong is unfair, adding that the move will destroy the long-established win-win relations between Hong Kong and the US and damage local and US businesses in the Special Administrative Region.
China’s legislature on Thursday approved the national security law for Hong Kong. A day later, US President Donald Trump criticised the law and announced the US's withdrawal of its special status for Hong Kong.
