The detainees were involved in 13 cases including common assault, possession of weapons, and disorderly conduct in public places.
After the first talks which concluded without a breakthrough on Tuesday, the Hong Kong Federation of Students, one of the main organizers of the movement, said no plan has been made for new talks with the Hong Kong administration. Alex Chow, the Federation’s Secretary General, said on Wednesday that Hong Kong’s authorities must make meaningful offers to end the ongoing impasse. But none of the proposals the government offered so far are specific. So the demonstrators may not withdraw from protest sites.

Protests broke out in Hong Kong late last month demanding that China’s Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress rethink a decision made in August on electoral reform in the special administrative region. Under the decision, the people of Hong Kong will have to elect their next leader from a list of Beijing-vetted candidates in 2017.
