Mr. Szijjártó who is in Vietnam for an official visit affirmed the Hungarian government’s wish to strengthen multifaceted cooperation between the two countries in the future.

The visit is to mark 70 years since Hungary and Vietnam established diplomatic ties, said Mr. Szijjártó.

“The relationship between Vietnam and Hungary is  more than just an ordinary cooperation if they're successful enough to build a friendship between the two countries and the two nations which is based on the high number of those Vietnamese who have been enrolled in Hungarian universities, studied our language, come to know our culture, and returned to Vietnam. They continue to be promoters, goodwill ambassadors of Hungary and of the bilateral relationship between Vietnam and Hungary,” said Mr. Szijjártó.

He added, “On the other hand, it shows a lot that even during the first 8 months of this year when all economic figures are going down, we have been able to increase trade volume between the 2 countries and we have increased our trade by almost 60%. So it shows very clearly that our relationship is well based, deeply rooted and is based on mutual respect and mutual benefits.”

In September 2018, Vietnam and Hungary established a comprehensive partnership, and a framework for future development. During the visit to Vietnam, the Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade held talks with Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh, had working sessions with the Ministers of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Finance and Planning and Investment, and attended the inauguration of the new consular office of the Embassy of Hungary in Vietnam.
