(VOVWORLD) - The novel coronavirus outbreak (SARS-CoV-2) threatens to erase 29 billion USD of this year’s revenue for global airlines, mostly for Chinese carriers, as travel crashes worldwide, according to the International Air Transport Association.

This marks the first overall decline in such demand since the financial crisis of 2008 and 2009. The statement shows a potential 13% full-year loss of passenger demand for carriers in the Asia-Pacific region.
