Incense offered in memory of Vietnam’s ancestors
(VOVWORLD) -Incense offering rituals began on Wednesday in the Hung Temple Historical Site in commemoration of the legendary ancestors of Vietnam, Father Lac Long Quan and Mother Au Co.

This was the opening activity for the series of rituals leading up to the death anniversary of the Hung Kings, the founders of the Vietnamese nation, on the 10th day of the third lunar month, which falls on April 10 this year.
At the Temple of Father Lac Long Quan and Mother Au Co, rituals were performed in a dignified and respectful manner according to traditional rites. Delegates offered incense, flowers and gifts to express gratitude and memory of the ancestors' merits. They vowed to continue the national tradition, unite to overcome all difficulties and challenges, and contribute efforts and wisdom to national construction and development.
There will be festivals and activities, including Arts for Tours, Competition of wrapping and cooking banh chung (square sticky rice cake) and pounding banh giay (round sticky rice cake), traditional festival of Hung Lo communal house and a ceremony to receive the certificate of recognition of the national intangible cultural heritage.
The Hung Temple Festival Art Program will celebrate the 10th Anniversary of UNESCO honoring Hung Kings Worship Belief as the representative intangible cultural heritage of humanity.
